UPDATED 20 OCTOBER 2026 · FLIGHTS & ROUTES

Start with airports you can realistically reach

List your nearest airport and any alternatives you would genuinely use, such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester or Birmingham. Add ground travel time and cost for each. A cheaper flight can be less convenient if it requires a difficult connection or overnight airport stay.

Compare the full route, not only the fare

Review every flight segment, connection airport, layover length, terminal change and whether bags are checked through. Airline schedules and routes vary by date and can change, so use the itinerary for your exact travel dates.

Check baggage and passenger details

Confirm checked and cabin baggage for each airline on the ticket, especially on mixed-carrier journeys. Check passenger names and dates against travel documents, and review transit requirements for each passport.

Plan the Saudi ground journey

Allow time for airport arrival procedures, hotel check-in and travel between Makkah and Madinah if both cities are in your plan. Ask what transport is included, whether it is private or shared and which dates it covers.
